Thomas Deacon Education Trust

TDET Conference 2018

Thomas Deacon Education Trust staff conference

Thomas Deacon Education Trust hosted its first all staff conference on Wednesday 3rd January enabling over 500 members of staff, from across the Trust, to come together as a whole staff team for the first time.

The programme for the day included presentations from Julie Taylor, CEO, Dr Richard Barnes, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and key note speaker, Dr A Tunariu, Head of School of Psychology, University of East London as well as an opportunity for staff to network and share best practice.

Julie Taylor opened the conference with an introduction to the origins of Thomas Deacon Academy and how the Trust has evolved since it was formed in 2016. Julie went on to explain the Trust structure that will ensure robust governance and leadership and the values and principles underpinning TDET.

Dr Barnes followed with a presentation that opened our minds to consider how we can fully understand what our Trust objectives really mean and how to work collectively towards ensuring that we are effectively achieving them.

The morning concluded with a presentation from key note speaker, Dr Tunariu who delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking insight into the power of positive psychology, positive mind-set and positive education in creating and sustaining an enabling teaching and learning environment.

It was clear that the morning had provided a renewed sense of purpose and ambition amongst the staff team and the Trust enters 2018 with a strong vision for the future.
