TDA Duke of Edinburgh Leaders take on a weekend of training
This weekend, the Thomas Deacon Academy staff Duke of Edinburgh team spent their time training in the Peak District in preparation for the new season. The team of thirteen walked in two groups, led by Mr McCloskey and Mr Tearle with one team heading up over the Nether Moor and the other taking on Kinder Scout. During the training, the teams explored navigation, map reading, compass work and leap frogging.
The conditions were perfect with bright, clear skies albeit a little windy and after six hours of hiking, the groups returned to base camp feeling accomplished.
